Kepos Media

Editorial services for Web and print publishing

Kepos Media transforms complexity into clarity.

Kepos Media provides a full range of writing, editing, content development, and project management services for educational publishers, businesses, government agencies, and nonprofits. From single articles to multivolume reference series, we are adept at bringing even the most technical content to life in clear, concise language tailored for its intended audience. In print or online, we can help you hone your message and craft material you’ll be proud to publish.

What sets us apart from other editorial companies is our project management capability. We have the capacity to shepherd complicated, multiphase publishing projects from conception to completion—efficiently, on budget, and on schedule. When you have a project with reams of data, dozens of contributors, and hundreds of graphics, we’re the shop to call.

Our unparalleled team of writers and editors includes MBAs, epidemiologists, engineers, MDs, historians, neuroscientists, sportswriters, and other experts, all with a knack for presenting complex concepts in a way that’s comprehensible to nonspecialists.

Leadership

Paula Kepos

Paula Kepos founded Kepos Media in 2004 after fifteen years in educational publishing, including positions as director of academic content at ProQuest and VP/publisher for STM reference at Wiley. Paula enjoys a minor reputation for dauntlessness, which helps explain Kepos Media’s focus on complex projects and difficult subject matter. She enjoys traveling the world so she can edit in exotic locations.

Derek Jacques

After nearly a decade as a civil litigator in New York, Derek Jacques joined Kepos Media in 2007 as vice president for new product development. Derek makes it his business to become a master of his clients’ digital platforms as well as their content. (More than one has observed that he knows their products better than they do.) Highly diversified, Derek has also coauthored multiple editions of the best-selling Baseball Prospectus and is an accomplished photographer whose work has appeared on many book covers.

Janice Jorgensen

A former editor at Gale’s St. James Press imprint, Janice Jorgensen has worked for Kepos Media since 2004 and has served as the company’s managing editor since 2011. Equally beloved by clients and staff, Janice is a brilliant multitasker who can juggle a seemingly infinite number of projects with no effect on her famously sunny disposition.

Ruth Chatlien

Ruth Chatlien spent seventeen years as an editor with McDougal Littell (a division of Houghton Mifflin) and eleven years as a successful freelancer prior to joining the team. At Kepos Media she deploys her scholarly bent and formidable analytical skills as senior editor for digital education. Ruth is also the author of historical novels, including The Ambitious Madame Bonaparte (2013) and Blood Moon: A Captive’s Tale (2017).
